“Revisiting the Petite Ceinture of Paris”

The Petite Ceinture is a former railway line, which once encircled Paris inside the boulevards des Maréchaux. Disused since 1934, its tracks are recently since 2007 reopened to public. A variety of projects with various programs using both the tracks and the former stations are now or will be implemented. These spaces, which were abandoned for more than 70 years, offer a unique opportunity in Paris to experiment new urbanities. Two sites have been selected in the northern part of Paris. According to the specificities of each site, design will have to propose new scenario with mixed-used programs including co-working, fab-labs, temporary housing for immigrants, cultural, social, leisure activities including gardens and public spaces.

The studio consists of four major phases:
Phase 1: Pre-workshop Work : Research, Analyze, and Develop Preliminary Concept (group work)
Phase 2: Intensive Workshop (group work)
Phase 3: Conceptual Master Plan (individual work)
Phase 4: Developed Design (individual work)

There are two “Focus Sites”:
Rue Belliard- rue Vauvenargues, 18th ward (arrondissement) AND Rue Ménilmontant – Rue de la mare, 20th ward (arrondissement)
