The redevelopment of Sunshine City in Ikebukuro

Recent days, Ikebukuro has been selected as SDGs Future City, and they are developing outdoor uses. Any parks were renewed or newly placed like disaster prevention park called IKE SUN Park, south Ikebukuro Park run by NEST, pedestrian use activities like Living Loop has been held. In the city development history of Ikebukuro, Sunshine City used to be prison so it is kind of outside the master plan from the begging as an area. But Sunshine city has the biggest land in Ikebukuro so now they are trying to somehow renew the surroundings edges of the site to connect and network with others. University will be moving next door in few years so people will also change.
In this studio, we will collaborate with city development promotion department in SunShine city to produce researches and ideas, they are happy to help us sharing information and permissions to research inside the site.
