Amsterdam Intensive Urban Design Workshop October 2019, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

This workshop was organized in Amsterdam was a part of the more comprehensive fall studio work. The general theme was the conditions of the waterfront which are an important aspect of urban development both in Tokyo and Amsterdam.

Amsterdam is growing. This primarily applies to areas like the Hamer Quarter which is located in Amsterdam North, cross the Canal Van Hasselt. Our studio is therefore focusing on this place for which the municipality is currently preparing a zoning plan for the period 2020-2025. In collaboration with the Academy of Architecture Amsterdam, three sites were proposed offering different urban contexts and calling for various strategies in the use of the reclaimed land and the new waterfront conditions.
