Special Evening Lecture Sudarshan V. Khadka, Jr. and Alexander Eriksson Furunes 2021.07.15 ‒ 19:00

Sudarshan V. Khadka, Jr. and Alexander Eriksson Furunes I-AUD Meiji University

We will have an ONLINE Evening Lecture at July 15th Thursday from 19:00 JST, by Sudarshan V. Khadka, Jr. and Alexander Eriksson Furunes, who are the curators of the Philippine Pavilion at the current 17th Venice Architecture Biennale.

Sudarshan and Alexander explore how the principles of mutual support would shape architecture by involving people directly in the determination of values embedded in it. Through a series of workshops based on bayanihan, the Filipino tradition of mutual support, the community and architects planned, designed and built a community library and conflict-resolution space. In the Philippine Pavilion exhibition at the Venice Biennale, much like bayanihan was used traditionally to move a house from one village to the other, the building has traveled to Venice for the duration of the exhibition before returning back home to the village. In this lecture, you will hear more about their attempts.

The lecture will be in English, open to public using ZOOM.
