New Trends of Intertwining Research and Education in Science and Technology

Research and education in science and technology have steadily developed within the traditional academic system, but in recent years, new methods of practice, such as RtD (Research through Design), have been implemented. In addition, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), which has MOU with School of Science and Technology, Meiji University, has begun operating an Artistic PhD degree program. Taking the opportunity of the visit of Alexander Erikson Furunes, who teaches at NTNU and obtained the first Artistic PhD from NTNU, we will provide a forum to explore the possibility of developing such a new trend in Japan.

学外シンポジウム「理工系の研究・教育の関係再編への新たな潮流」

理工系の研究と教育は、従来からの学問体系の中で着実に発展してきたが、近年はRtD(Research throughDesign)など新しい方法による実践が取り組まれている。また、明治大学理工学部と協定を締結し新たに研究・教育の両面での交流を開始するノルウェー科学技術大学(NTNU)では、Artistic PhDの学位プログラムの運用が開始されている。今回NTNUで教鞭をとり、自身が第一号のArtistic PhD取得者であるAlexander Erikson　Furunes氏が来日するのを機会に、このような新しい潮流の日本での展開の可能性を探る場を提供する。
